Topping The Trends: A Velour Tracksuit

December 6th, 2009 Leave a comment Go to comments

Trends come and go quickly in modern fashion but there are a select few trends that stay around long enough to become fashion staples. Denim jeans are the most notable trend turned staple in recent decades. The newest trend which is proving that it has staying power is the velour tracksuit.

Unlike other trends, shops continue to stock velour tracksuits season to season. For the past few years there have been variations on the velour tracksuit in every major high street shop. Two years on the fashion scene is an age in modern styling.

Celebrities started wearing velour tracksuits first. Britney Spears used pink velour tracksuits for her bridesmaids in her wedding to K-Fed. Then the WAGs began sporting velour tracksuits during international football games.

Now everyone likes velour tracksuits, from high street to designer. They combine comfort and style which makes them a favourite. But you need to make sure that the tracksuit you wear is made of good quality velour. When it is washed it should keep its shape. Likewise you do not want to see the colour fading. If the material is less than the best the tracksuit will end up looking more chavvy than stylish.

Dark colours work best on tracksuits for adults as colours can look like you are trying to look younger than you are. Definitely stay away from bright pinks and greens. Black, brown and navy are ideal as they are flattering.

On the other hand, children look brilliant in bright colours. Some parents struggle with finding clothes for their daughters which are comfy and practical whilst being stylish. When you can get all three in one outfit you have found a winner. When children have been swimming or doing activities they like to be able to easily pull their clothes on and off.

Loo at different retailers for the right velour tracksuit for you. You will find some are better quality than others are. If they specialise in velour clothing you are on to a winner. £60 is the maximum price you want to pay for a velour tracksuit unless it is designer then you are just paying for the brand. Likewise, do not spend too little otherwise the clothing will fall apart after just a few washes.
