The Finest Green Inventors In Toronto
The competition for the green innovation award has reached its results and announces three stars. Mayor David Miller, Deputy Mayor Joe Pantalone and CityNews Meteorologist Michael Kuss announced the finest green innovators on April 23 as part of the Green Living Show at the Direct Energy Centre, Exhibition Place. Each of the innovators were handed the prestigious Green Toronto Award and they will share a $50,000 prize.
The young scientists want to support the environment, the prize money is just a bonus. Three winners may have been declared but the ideas for green solutions was at a very high standard. Since the idea was to show real solutions, most of the projects were affordable and easily applicable, so one day you may see them applied also in your neighbourhood, or in your own property.
The three award winners are listed here:
* Olivier Trescases, PhD and Chris Lea, with Green Gym: An exercise fitness centre that is espressly built to take energy and send it to the grid.
* Sarah Lazarovic and her idea GreenHouseTO; Not just for architects but for the average citizens comes a web and mobile renovation application that is for Toronto buildings.
* Robert Kori Golding, for his idea My Green City: For those that fancy gaming on the iPhone or Facebook Planting a tree, cutting down waste or any other environmental improvements you make will be exchanged for points when using this application
Greener wins!
The day didn’t finish there, there was a further 9 other Green Toronto Awards: Community Projects Award, Energy Conservation Award, Environmental Awareness Award, to name just a couple Charities also benefited, as all finalists received a prize of $5,000 each to share with a charity of their choice.
