Selecting A Door That Can Be Covered In The Same Finish As Your Building Can Can Sweeten The Planners On Your Hangar

Securing agreement from the planners for a hangar door can be tricky. The position where the hangar should ideally be situated is naturally usually in a green belt sector and the planners are careful about permitting people to build huge unappealing structures that will ruin the rural area and add another blot to the landscape.

They might advise that in order to smooth the request the building should be constructed of local material, comparable to the other buildings around it, for example Accrington brick, granite etc. This is all very well for the steel frame building, which can typically be clad to make it blend in, but what can you do when it comes to the door. Here there is often an issue.

Usually, for these kinds of buildings a roller door or a bifold door provide the solution but in these areas they will not blend in well as they are of a totally different product to the rest of the build. Generally they are fabric or metal and cannot be constructed of local timber or limestone. However a door must be included, for protection, safety and peace of mind so what alternatives are available.

One idea would be to opt for a hanger door that can be covered in cladding made of the same stuff that the building is covered in. This cracks the key problem of the planning request as the door blends seamlessly in with it’s surroundings and ensures that the building looks just like it’s counterparts. As well it has the added bonus of being much more secure than the alternatives, meaning that your helicopter or airplane is much better protected. Often these doors provide security against ram raid thefts and other burglary problems as well as being very tough and looking well.

So if you are having problems getting your request through planning because of it’s looks this plan could just be the solution you are searching for.
