New Android Tablets Will Be Amazing With Android 3.0

Google recently took the wraps off Android 3.0, the new edition of its mobile OS that is built entirely for pills. It’ll appear on devices like Motorola’s Xoom tablet and a slew of other products.

Here’s the bottom line on Honeycomb’s features.
The interface : in place of hardware buttons, Honeycomb uses an on-screen navigation bar that appears at the base of the display, whether you orient the device horizontally or vertically. The home screen will look really different from the ones on smartphonefocused Android releases, due in part to the
Increased greatness of widgets.

For example, you can use the new Gmail widget to scroll through your inbox,or use the updated calendar widget to skim imminent appointments. If you make a custom widget for someone in your contact list, the OS will display a comprehensive stream of updates and activity for that person.

You might expect Honeycomb’s interface to cut back the device’s battery life. But Motorola asserts that its Xoom tablet can deliver 10 hours of video playback on a charge.

Multi panes apps : In Honeycomb, applications can milk the tablet’s display size by expanding into multiple panes that appear side by side on your screen. In the new Gmail app, as an example, you can pull up individual messages while keeping an active view of your inbox on screen.

Video chat : Honeycomb will introduce integrated video-chatting using Google Talk. You can tap an icon to pull up a list of chums and initiate voice or video chatwhether they utilize a tablet or a normal computer.

The browser : In Honey brush, Android’s browser will handle multiple tabs, automated form-filling, private scanning, and Chrome-based bookmark syncing. You can open a scrollable list of bookmarks from your house screen, too, through the OS’s browser widget.

Google hasn’t announced a launch date for Honeycomb, but Motorola expects its Xoom tablet to debut in the first quarter of 2011.
