iphone gps maps europe
US citizens staying connected while in Europe?
I will be traveling alone in Europe this summer and I am afraid to get lost. Therefore, I was thinking of buying a GPS system and taking it to Europe with me. I will be traveling through UK, Paris, Switzerland, Italy, Germany and Netherlands.
I don’t want to bring a map with me b/c I will stand out as a tourist! Does any one has any recommendations? I could buy an iphone or a Blackberry (for web browsing) but I cant afford to get stuck with the payments for 2 years. Which phone provider or phone card that you would recommend???
I would love any advice!
Thank you
Lisa is right. Having a map doesn’t necessarily mark you as a tourist, and certainly isn’t the only cue. I have no problem taking a map with me when I go out exploring here in Europe. There are some very small folding maps that are good for the major touristic cities and most places here are pretty easy to get around in without a map.
When my daughter came to visit last September, she just picked up a local prepaid SIM for her phone in the Vodaphone store in town. All the phone companies here in Italy have similar things – she went with Vodaphone because it was the first one we went by when walking through town. Then she replaced the SIM with the original one when she returned to the US.
There are still lots of places with public internet access in the major tourist destinations here. It’s not hard to get on-line.
