The HP LaserJet 4100 Printer is one of the monochrome laser printers coming from Hewlett Packard that’s easy to operate. Plenty of connectivity options make it easy to set up in a workgroup regardless of the network operating system. What’s more, there’s sufficient room for expandability and high capacity HP 4100 print cartridge to catch up with the increasing productivity requirements of today’s demanding workplace.

It boasts of a 250-MHz RISC processor. RISC stands for reduced instruction set computer. It’s a processor type with a single chip that’s able to perform faster as it has a simpler design. In fact, this laser office equipment is capable of producing 25 black-and-white pages per minute. Additionally, the first page is out in as little as 12 seconds. With this, you’re done with your document printing while other machines are just about warming up.

A print resolution capable of producing 1200 x 1200 dots per inch means clearer and sharper printouts. This much resolution is important in yielding professional-looking documents containing both text and graphics. With the Resolution Enhancement technology (REt) onboard, it’s possible to enjoy hardcopy of a grayscale image with photorealistic qualities. This feature can be switched on or off as necessitated by what you’re printing.

The 4100 has two media input trays with a combined capacity amounting to 600 sheets. The first tray is the multipurpose type, capable of handling 100 sheets with weight of 16 to 53 pounds. The second tray is capable of handling as much as 500 sheets that weigh 16 to 28 pounds. However, such media input capacity may be maximized to as high as 1600 sheets with the addition of optional media trays.

Extensive media types supported include plain paper, coated, matte, recycled, card stocks and envelopes. But you may also use laser-printer specific transparency and label sheets. There are also multiple media sizes supported, including executive, legal, letter and even custom sizes. By attaching an optional auto-duplex unit, it’s possible to automatically print on two sides of a page.

To ensure flexibility, included printer languages are PostScript level 3, PCL 6 and PCL 5E. There are 30 HP FontSmart and 110 TrueType font faces available, as well as those incorporated into the printer languages used. The 16MB built-in memory can be upgraded to as high as 256MB memory because of the SDRAM DIMM slots found on the printer. Devices such as a 5GB external hard drive can be hooked up to a couple of open EIO slots.

Allowing easy connection to a computer or LAN device is the bi-directional IEEE 1248 parallel port. There are numerous optional networking ports which can also be connected to this superior piece of office equipment. They include Jetdirect, LocalTalk and TokenRing for compatibility with a variety of operation systems. To maintain printer performance and efficient use of supplies, Hewlett Packard has set the monthly volume output to 150,000 sheets.

It has a body which measures 13.6 in (w) x 15.3 in (d) x 19.9 in (h), leaving a small footprint. It weighs a little over 37 lb. The 4100 prints with monochrome 4100 toner. This type of laser printer allows for upgrading connectivity options and other essential features. With such an advanced printer, meeting the requirements of a busy workplace to come up with professional-looking printouts is trouble-free. It is suggested to use HP LaserJet toner instead of off-brand toners, as the performance will be more efficient and produce higher quality prints.
