Does the Gulf of Mexico stay warm year around? When can you start going to the beach?
I’m going to Pensacola Florida for spring break and it’s on the Gulf of Mexico. Is it warm enough to go to the beach? Is the water freezing?
Well I live on the beach down by st.pete and I wouldnt be in the water right now. However, I see tourist from up north who go in the surf. Last time I checked the surface water temp is 61.
The water is going to feel cold no matter who you are. I think a good comparison would be if you were to hop in a lake up north in the summer and be comfortable with the water then you may be fine in the gulf.
For locals, the beach season really doesnt begin till closer to memorial day when the water is at least 75.
