tom tom gps device vs. garmin nuvi 660?

does the tom tom automatically recalculate routes if you miss a turn or go the wrong way? i have been looking at the garmin nuvi 660 but thought i’d keep my options open. what do you think about each of them? which one is better? not necessarily which one has more features, just which has a better navigational system? i would be using it at work, on an ambulance, so i can’t afford to have it mess up or anything. and i’d rather have the better one.

They both work on the same basic technology- calculating routes according to wherever you are (including when you miss turns), and I believe that they both have text-to-speech technology (allowing it to say the name of the street you need to turn on), at least the higher end ones do. If I recall correctly, the TomTom’s lower ends have it while the Garmin don’t.
Both brands have a really easy and simple interface, though the Garmin comes out on top there.
They also both have the same precision on your location. Almost all of them do, except for the Navigon, which can pinpoint what lane you’re in and tell you when to change. However, the Navigon has pretty cluttered and difficult to navigate interface.

My information kind of got out of hand there, but really, the two don’t have a lot of difference when it comes to important stuff, so I’d stick with Garmin since you’ll be needing to put addresses in quickly.
