Blackberry Bold 9700 or Apple iPhone 3Gs?

I am currently in the market for a new phone to for personal and business use. Here is my dilemma. My wife has the iPhone and I am upgrading her to the 3Gs because that is what she wants. I myself have your typical run of the mill cell phone and will be my first time upgrading to a smart phone. I like both the iPhone and the Blackberry 9700, have played around with them both. But I don’t want to get sucked into a two year contract and find out I made a mistake in choosing one over the other.

I what like to have work e-mails and personal on the phone, web browsing, maps/GPS is important, as well as texting. Which is the better deal as far as durability, usage, and reliability?

I also have a PC and a Mac, so the computer is not an issue. Also own an iPod touch which right at two years old, is starting to have multiple issues. Any help is appreciated.

In my opinion, I would say go with the 9700. I have the orignal Iphone for about a year and a half and am absolutely loving it because of the interface and all the applications you can put on it.

I been hearing a lot of positive feedback on the 9700 lately so I have actually been thinking of switching. You can also get an App Store on the Blackberry device and get a great camera with a flash (which the Iphone doesnt). The only negative thing I have heard (about blackberry’s in general) is the web browser. The simplicity and and visual interface for just about every website is fantastic on the Iphone.

Either phone you get comes with a GPS feature, web browser, and texting is great on both devices.
In my opinion, I would try using the browser on both devices so u have a feel for both because that is one major difference I see between the two.

Lastly, I am not sure what carrier you are with, but I would STRONGLY reccomend going with Bell (if you are from Canada). The have the largest and fastest network (this title no long belongs to Rogers) and if you buy one phone and dont like it, just go in and get the other one after a couple of days because it wont make a huge dent in having a 2 year contract because you only had it for a few days.

Good Luck and let me know if there is anyhing I can do to help out
