With the nokia e71 built in gps reciever?
With the nokia e71 built in gps reciever i was wondering if i could download maps onto my comp than transfer it over to my nokia and basically use what i downloaded as a melway/street directory
The GPS Receiver on your E71 is useless without any Maps application or such. Maps application includes OVI Maps (the new Nokia Maps, which is integrated with Nokia Smartphones), Google Maps, Garmin Mobile XT, etc.
I do recommend OVI Maps since it is both integrated with Nokia (not to mention MADE by Nokia) and that you can download a MAP in your PC then transfer them (by syncing!) to your phone. I also recommend starting with OVI Maps first, and see for your self how that works out for you. If maps tend to be inaccurate, then that’s when you try other Maps applications.
Few tips for OVI Maps:
You can download (or update) your E71′s built-in Maps application (which should either be Ovi Maps or Nokia Maps) by going to your local Nokia Website and downloading a fresh copy of Nokia PC Suite (or Nokia OVI Suite) then heading towards http://maps.ovi.com/ then downloading a copy of the OVI Map Loader, if your OVI Suite or Nokia PC Suite doesn’t come with the program yet. Once everything is installed (either of the Suites and OVI Map Loader), then you can use OVI Map Loader to install and update your phone’s OVI Maps Application as well as download Maps for it and transfer to your phone.
