What do I need to get my Blackberry GPS to work?

I have a Blackberry 7250 that has built in GPS, but I don’t know what I need to make it function. Do I need a card and do I have to sign up for a monthly service?

Sorry to break it to you, but the BlackBerry 7250 model does NOT have GPS built-in. Please see the following BlackBerry website for 7250 specifications:

All is not lost, though. The 7250 does have Bluetooth built-in so you are free to purchase a GPS receiver (sometimes referred to as a GPS puck) and connect it to your 7250 via Bluetooth. The functionality will be as seamless as if the GPS radio was built in, you simply need to pair the puck and your device and you are good to go.

Please note that in order for this service to work, you will need to be on a BlackBerry data plan through your carrier. The Bluetooth connection is free, as is the GPS connection, however, in order to have the maps downloaded to your device, you will need an active data plan.

Once you have the GPS puck, you are free to use just about any mobile GPS software. Try Google maps (www.google.com/gmm) or BlackBerry Maps (http://na.blackberry.com/eng/devices/features/blackberry_maps.jsp)
