enable gps blackberry 8330
Why isn’t GSPed working for my Blackberry?
I have a Blackberry Curve 8330 (Verizon). I wanted to enable GPS for use with Google Maps, so I did some research and found out about GPSed.
I downloaded it and ran the auto-configure thing, and it said it found a few configurations that would work for my phone, but when the application starts, it just hangs on “Setup GPS Connection” with the progress bar moving along over and over and over. It never gets past that little setup thing, no matter how many times I restart it and redo the auto-configure program.
Can anyone offer me some advice please?
Verizon has neutered the GPS receiver on the phone. They want you to pay to use their VZNavigator service instead of the capabilities that are already built into the Curve. When I go into the maps application on my BlackBerry, I think it’s stupid that it cannot find where I am on the map. The 260-page owners manual from RIMM says the unit is supposed to be able to locate you on the map, but apparently Verizon has crippled that capability.
