Have you ever moved into an apartment that was just right, and six months later realized that you needed more space? This happens often with me. I’ll move into a new place and then decide to buy some new items for the place. Very quickly the house becomes full and I wish that I had a bigger place.
Unfortunately, I can’t always move right away because of leases or personal budget restrictions. Luckily, I’ve become a fantastic organizer and storer. With frequent practice and a lot of well laid plans, I’ve been able to store loads of stuff in even the smallest of places. Throughout the years I’ve learned how to use a shoe cubby, shelves, and many other items.

I’ve always been plagued by lots of shoes and no place to put them. Within a week or so of moving into a new place I end up filling up the area around my front door with shoes. I’ve found that having a bench shoe cubby has really helped me with this. This is basically a bench with many shelves underneath to store my shoes. I can use the bench to sit in while I put my shoes on and take them off. Afterwards I just put them back underneath the bench.
Other shoe storage items can come in the form of a drawer cubby or a hanging cubby. The drawer cubby stores your shoes in slots contained within a drawer. This protects them from dirt and dust and is great for shoes that aren’t worn very often. The hanging cubby hangs in your closet and is great for getting the most out of your closet.
Some other things I’ve done to get the most out of my house is to install drawers underneath my bed. You can buy plastic ones at Walmart of Kmart for a very low price, or you can have wooden ones made to fit underneath your bed. A nice bed skirt will hide the drawers so you can hide things in them too if you like.
Investing in some good shelves is a great way to turn your walls into storage containers. When you put shelves in each one of your rooms, you can easily double the amount of storage space you have.
