I’ve always been told that the more stickers that are placed on a race car, the faster it can race. I’ve never genuinely believed the saying, yet the drivers seemed to, and so that’s what counts. Might we apply equally doubtful physics to av items with logos affixed upon the boxes? Sort of. A large amount of logos implies that the producer, in lieu of applying the time and resources to develop their own auto-setup program or sound certification, merely allows other businesses to produce this technology. For instance, by using Faroudja’s video up-scaling technology, Onkyo is able to use their assets toward designing powerful speakers and adaptable AV receivers.

The Onkyo HT-S9100THX Home Theater Receiver is a great result of Onkyo’s disposition to construct top quality integrated systems by means of their own advantages and others’ technologies. This home theater receiver has a 7.1 surround sound speaker system as well as a beautifully built AV receiver. The receiver offers four HDMI inputs which provide quick connectivity for your peripherals.

The Onkyo HT-S9100THX Home Theater Receiver furthermore includes on-board decoding for the majority of typical HD audio technology, such as Dolby and DTS, and it also includes Audyssey EQ for loudness correction. The THX certification which comes with this home theater system indicates that if you select a THX-mastered Blu-ray disc and play it with this product, the sound and video performance can be noticeably similar to the experience that THX intended for you to enjoy inside your nearest cinema.

This integrated group comes with some character challenges, plus a couple of genuine inadequacies that you need to consider, nevertheless. First, the Farroudja video up-scaling is not particularly valuable or noticeable. Second, the receiver and speakers function great with one another, yet not as well with other machines.

Onkyo products have a well-recognized reputation for not playing well with others, so if you have chosen one or two non-Onkyo pieces, be prepared to do a little fine-tuning. Third, Onkyo also consistently produces remote controls that buyers either love or hate. Fortunately, these remotes are easily replaced by bought universal remotes. Finally, notwithstanding the fact that these capabilities are offered on some of Onkyo’s entry-level products this Onkyo does not possess 3D capability or an included iPhone dock.

The Onkyo HT-S9100THX isn’t the ideal home theater system, yet we haven’t discovered that one yet. It is, by nearly all guidelines, a very good home theater system. Possibly most significantly, is that it is worth every dollar of its $1100 retail price.
