All About Network Config Admins And TFTP Server Technologies

Unlike the concerns of an era gone by network config managers today focus on corporate technology concerns instead of issues that captured people’s attention during the industrial revolution. Making sure that technology is kept updated and usable is of high importance within most any business today. Successful helpdesk operations and TFTP server administration is what gains the attention of network administrators far and wide.

What is TFTP?

Hearing this term for the first time, I personally was intrigued to find out what it meant. You can understand how TFTP works by breaking it down into its basic parts.

If you take the “T” away from TFTP you are left with FTP which many more people are familiar with. When you upload or download content from the Web you are using FTP.

For example, a couple of days ago I took some holiday photos that I wanted to share with my FaceBook community. Within the FaceBook social networking community I browsed to the files on my hard drive and selected which pictures I wanted to share. Then with a click of a button I was uploading them all to FaceBook.

That upload process used the concept of FTP which is also known as File Transfer Protocol.

Here are even more ways that I have used FTP in recent days:

* To complete the purchase of an EBook that I bought online.
* Updating the content of my Web properties by uploading the changed files.
* Downloading photos I appreciated from Google images.
* Putting my desired photo on FaceBook or Twitter by uploading it from my harddrive.

Though TFTP is not global in scope like FTP, it operates in the same fashion within the confines of a companies network environment.

Typical ways that a company is able to use TFTP include:

  • Remote-booting without hard drives
  • Upgrading codes
  • Booting PCs without a disk

My conclusion is that a TFTP server is as important as helpdesk software for network config management.

Simply put network config administrators have an easier time of meeting all a companies technical needs if issues related to helpdesk processes remain in good condition. I personally turn to SpiceWorks.com for all my own helpdesk needs as I know their free download will be the answer for exactly what my network config administrator’s need.
